What We Do

Brochures and Other Printed Materials

What makes a brochure effective? Is it good design? Is it good content? It’s both, and more. Materials must initially draw the eye of the reader, and then keep him or her interested. A piece crowded with text may be overwhelming; a piece with too little text may fail to convey the message. One with a very busy design may be distracting; one with too few visual elements may bore the reader. We know how to marry compelling text with key design principles such as balance, harmony, contrast, rhythm, scale and repetition.

Great design is more than combining words and visual elements in a way that looks appealing. A powerful brochure or report simultaneously intrigues, informs and persuades.

Some of our work:
1) Green Jobs Central Oklahoma (GJCO) business-to-business brochure, outlining GJCO’s work in the wind technology and recycling industries
2) Oklahoma Marriage Initiative’s award-winning “MarriageOK” magazine, a guide for couples getting married to learn more about having healthy relationships (Award of Merit, Public Relations Society of America, 2010)
3) Governor’s Safe Schools Summit, Oklahoma’s largest middle and high school education training
4) Sensational Adventure event at the Oklahoma City Zoo
5) Oklahoma Marriage Initiative’s Thriving Marriages brochure, explaining free healthy relationship training available to couples in unique family situations

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Effective SEO applies best practices to a website to give the site the best possible chance of ranking well in search engines such as Google.com, Yahoo.com and Bing.com. SEO can be divided into two areas of practice, on-page and off-page. On-page SEO involves implementing changes to the HTML code and content of a website to enhance search engine ranking for a predefined keyword. This effort involves reviewing each web page’s meta data, content, images and HTML code. Off-page SEO is an ongoing process that includes social media interaction and link building. We are well versed in SEO, regularly conducing campaigns for internal and external clients and with staff who have managed websites receiving 1 million page views or more per month.

To give your website the best chance of ranking well in the various keywords your target audience is likely to search by, Pivot offers the following:

  • Keyword research – Initial keyword research will shed light on which keywords people interested in your services would use when querying search engines.
  • Review other sites – Reviewing sites that already rank well for the keywords found during initial research is critical. By reviewing the HTML code of the top sites for a given keyword search, Pivot can discover why sites are ranking well for these terms and apply this knowledge to your website.
  • Review your website – Pivot will review key pages on your website and provide suggestions on SEO enhancements. The information obtained during keyword research and review of other sites will be utilized in this stage to make recommendations.
  • Implement changes – Pivot will supply SEO suggestions and execute implementation.
  • Tracking changes and analysis – It is important to document and analyze the changes made for the effects on the website’s ranking and any changes to online user behavior. Additionally, these insights can be used to learn more about your audience preferences, including mobile usage. Pivot supply reports to help interpret and apply this data, along with updates on emerging technologies and tactics.
  • Maintenance – Major search engines constantly update their ranking criteria to deliver the best results for a given keyword search. Pivot will keep you informed of any major changes that could affect your site and suggest adjustments needed based on these evolving variables.
  • Major search engines are beginning to use social media interactions as a factor in their search results. Pivot will incorporate these considerations into its social media strategy for you.

Websites

Pivot has considerable experience creating and managing websites and blogs for a diverse set of clients. Our staff has overseen comprehensive reviews of websites for content, architecture, navigation, tools, usability, design, technology, search engine optimization and more. Resources leveraged in this process may include website analytics, stakeholder interviews, content inventory, “card sort” tests (to inform navigation), wireframe development and design compositions.

Social Media

Pivot has launched comprehensive social media campaigns for numerous clients, including strategic planning, channel development, content creation, online advertising and monitoring for effectiveness. For example, our management of the TwoOfUs.org Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/twoofusorg) resulted in a 414 percent growth in monthly active users in 12 months. The page currently has more than 15,000 Facebook likes. Through this and other social media efforts, we have demonstrated the ability to build powerful and cohesive social media strategies from the ground up. Effective social media is precisely that—social. While social media can and should be used to actively push relevant content to stakeholders, two-way engagement is critical to success.

We are dedicated to producing quality content and to tapping the driving force behind social media: relationships. This creates a social media “echo” where others continue to share your message and content. In turn, this can help you expand your marketing reach at negligible costs. At the same time, we understand the complications and limitations inherent in social media and provide guidance to help our clients navigate and manage these tools. Pivot can create a comprehensive social media strategy — including development of social media pages — to ensure this important communications channel is fully leveraged. Additionally, we monitor all social media campaigns for effectiveness and continually adapt to emerging trends and technologies.

Event Planning

Pivot plans, manages and evaluates more than 50 events each year, with audience sizes ranging from five to 10,000. These events include conferences, multi-session workshops, retreats, ongoing programs, and more. Our event manager holds a Meetings and Events Certification from the University of Oklahoma and is a Certified Meeting Professional.

We have the staff and experience to successfully plan and execute nearly any size event in nearly any venue. The knowledge we have gained through years of experience will ensure a successful event for you. We offer:

  • Strategic planning
  • Site research and selection
  • Vendor research and selection (audio visual, food and beverage, transportation, etc.)
  • Contract negotiation
  • Consultation regarding schedule and program content
  • Logistics oversight (planning)
  • On-site event management
  • Expense tracking and management and invoice reconciliation
  • Event debriefing and recommendations for the future

Print Advertisements

Even in a world where everything seems to have “gone digital,” print ads can be useful. In the right publication, print ads can be highly effective in conveying your message to your target audience. For example, trade magazines reach those who are already in tune with your industry and may even be looking for what you have to offer. We understand what needs to go into print advertisements in order to make them most effective, and will apply solid content and design principles to your print ads.

E-newsletter

Email marketing is one of the most cost-effective means of direct marketing. Our staff members have extensive experience in email and e-newsletter optimization, including development of e-newsletters in software such as Adobe Dreamweaver and distribution via email sending and tracking services such as iContact. Such an effort may include a review of design, segmentation, timing, personalization, subject line performance, deliverability and content. Additionally, we identify potential motivations for signing up for your e-newsletter to further encourage this action.
